Oh Dear

We are officially under construction.

Charbroiled support beam? GREAT.

A laundry room and pantry will be carved out of a portion of this space.
The ceiling is now gone in the master bath area... It was missing a crucial support beam and was allowing the ceiling to sag, so the builder knocked out the ceiling to put in a new beam.
You can see outside in the corner... yikes!

Exposed ceiling with electrical hanging everywhere.

Walter is in charge of rebuilding everything... poor guy!

Walls are on their Way!

Builder Mike has started rebuilding what Eric and I demolished.

Builder Mike is a neat freak. He sweeps and vacuums all the time.
The "room" to the right is the closet, and the bathroom vanity goes to the left.
And, as with all construction projects... Once we took up the carpet, we found that the subfloor in part of the master bedroom was maid of 1/4" thick particle board. Particle board swells with moisture. Not the smartest thing to put down!

A Hard Day's Work

I finished painting the living and dining room walls and ceiling... now I have to do the baseboards and door and window frames... yuck. The purple master bedroom is looming down the corridor... YIKES!

The 3rd bedroom (which we will use as office/tv room) is painted those same horrid terra cotta and peach colors, so I've started priming, but have a ways to go. (see below) Eric began prep work on the flower beds. We trimmed up the bush/tree. We don't want to cut it down, because it provides shade for the west-facing living room windows... and we all know about Texas summers!

Wall is completely gone and ready for the new one!

Day 2

I already primed the front 2 living areas and managed to give away the fountain and the mounds of red bricks from the front yard.

Today I started demolition of the master bath/closet set up. Here are some photos of my work!

We're Home Owners Again

We closed! I primed the living room, dining room, and the 3rd bedroom/2nd living area today. Builder and plumber are coming tomorrow to make a plan for the master bath/closet that we have to redo. I forgot the camera today, but will take pics tomorrow.
