Update!

The horrible orange/peachy house on our left has a buyer! He's a British chap, and he sells real estate, also- We close April 9! Stay tuned for our work in progress photos!

The Before

It looks like we're buying a house! I've been helping Eric's boss and his partner (Adrian and Mack) remodel the home I sold them in February in this great old part of Dallas called Oak Cliff. It's SOUTH of I-30, which is a huge deal. No one wants to live south of I-30!

There are these great pockets of old homes that are being redone and really bringing the neighborhoods back. This house in particular is in a block that is about 50% redone, and the blocks north of it are already redone. The least expensive home in those blocks is $289,000, so we're hoping the wealth spreads our way!

The orange/peachy house on the left is also for sale. It is an obvious flip, and they did a HORRIBLE job. Hopefully someone will buy it and fix it!

No flower beds at all. We'll dump the yard art and put in some landscaping right away.

It used to be a duplex, so it has 2 front doors. The paint colors will change. Can't handle the turquoise.

A fireplace! We have to get logs and all, but I've missed having one, even if it's just for decoration for the time being.

A good sized dining room- Hooray! That is my least favorite thing about where we are now.

So from this picture, you might think "wow, awesome kitchen!" But no. This is the ONLY work surface and storage in the kitchen. We have to figure out how to match the cabinetry and have more storage installed.

Vent and the stove are just slightly disproportionate.

Apparently the wall above the kitchen remodel was load bearing, and rather than spend $300 putting a beam in the attic, they left it hanging in the kitchen. Not the first thing I'll change, but it is on the list...

Some funky little desk set up in the kitchen... it will go.

Guest bath. VERY tight, but at least it exists!


Master bedroom- door to the deck/courtyard that connects to the kitchen.

The master bedroom is purple. Yuck. It has carpet. Yuck. And the wall between the closet/bathroom combo is literally angled because they wanted to leave the window in the master bedroom. There are 3 other windows, so this wall will go, and a new one will go up that is straight and will include the window. Hopefully we can reverse the bathroom and the closet, and put the bathroom in the bigger section.

Backyard. YUCK! Privacy fence is on the emergency list. Hopefully we can put in the fence, add some landscaping, and maybe lay flagstone over that concrete slab to make a nice patio.
